Diffenderfer
San Diego Short Board

’76 – Pintail Shortboard, shaped by Mike "Diff", 7’ 8” L X 22” W.  The deck was redone in the 70’s, water damage, probably.  Matching fin to go with purple tint panels on the deck.  Black repitigraph pin lines, nice glass leash loop, bottom’s original, lam on both sides, beak on nose,  no cracks, delams or anything else.  8 condition.  All my boards are solid with no problems and no question marks. Diff.  - The Legend – was a San Diego boy.   He went to high school at La Jolla High, one of the few guys that surfed in school at that time.  Nice guy.

Wind ‘N Sea Surf Club member for years. Teamed up with Tony Channin a couple times in the sixties.  In ’68 shaped a pintail Long board piloted by Butch Van Arsdalen, with Channin/Diffenderfer label.  Mike and Butch hung out.  They were surfing pipes on Oahu, North Shore with pintail long boards in the early 60’s.   Also back and forth to Oahu building a lot of guns, big & short under different labels besides his own.  This is a special board whoever ends up with it.  Is a real carver and a nice hanger.  Great lines.  Built by one of the finest shapers this planet has ever produced.

$1,200  - paid $1,350.  years ago
